1st Edition Charizard value: how to confirm what you actually have
Most cards people bring us as 1st Edition Charizards are Shadowless or Unlimited. The difference is worth more than a house. Check three marks before you price it.
Where your card sits
1st Edition Base Set
Black 1st Edition stamp under the art, plus no drop shadow. The scarcest and by far the most valuable printing.
Shadowless
No stamp, no drop shadow, thinner fonts. Early print run and a strong premium over Unlimited.
Unlimited
Drop shadow to the right of the art box. Same art, much larger print run, much lower price.
Reprints and celebrations
Legendary Collection, Celebrations and 151 copies look similar at a glance and are worth a small fraction.
What moves the price
Centring and back whitening
On a card this valuable, the gap between a PSA 8 and a PSA 10 is enormous. Edges and centring decide it.
Authentication
Fakes of this card are sophisticated. Weight, light test and font comparison come before any price conversation.
Population at your grade
Check how many exist at the grade you have. Scarcity at the top drives the whole curve.
Sell channel
